Widely considered the quintessential British fruit, the Gooseberry is an ideal fruit for the small garden - the bushes are easy to grow, producing high yields for pies and jams.
This collection includes 1 bare root plant each of:
Invicta (Early season) - A vigorous and mildew-resistant variety, Invicta gives really heavy crops of large, smooth skinned, sweet green/yellow berries in late May and early June. Delicious whether eaten fresh, in pies, crumbles or preserves and any surplus can be frozen as the fruits hold their colour and shape well when brought out for later use.
Hinnonmaki Red (Mid season) - Our selection as a red gooseberry as it is resistant to mildew. As the name suggests, this July cropper is from Finland and produces an abundance of juicy and sweet goosegogs which are great in pies or tarts.
Hinnonmaki Yellow (Late season) - Expect greenish/yellow fruits until late July. The fruits have a very interesting, tasty and novel flavour very fragrant and with a zest of apricot! The bushes have a spreading habit and benefit from some support and will crop prolifically.
